March 3, 2010 - WJLA (ABC News), as well as the Washington Business Tonight (NewsChannel 8) interviewed John Schneider of MUSICofGAYLOVE.com this afternoon for his thoughts on the legalization of same-sex marriage in Washington, DC.  CLICK HERE for the video news report.

February 24, 2010 -

Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler (D) today that Maryland will begin recognizing same-sex marriages that are performed elsewhere and that Maryland just provide gay married couples the same rights as heterosexual couples. Finally, Maryland will join Washington, DC and other states that recognize same-sex marriages. DC’s legalization of same-sex unions is expected to take effect next week.

January 11, 2010 - A number of gay couples are suing California over the state’s voter-approved gay marriage ban.  As you probably know, voters reversed the state’s original decision to legalize same-sex marriages.  The upcoming trial will be decided by U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker without a jury.  Nearly 100,000 same-sex couples live in California, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

December 15, 2009 - Washington, D.C., City Council voted to legalize gay marriage in the nation's capital.  As a result, gay couples may be marrying as early as March 2010.  Council Member David Catania, who introduced the bill, called it a "matter of social justice." The District of Columbia now joins Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont in legalizing and issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.  Part of the text of the legislation reads:

“Marriage is the legally recognized union of two people. Any person who otherwise meets the eligibility requirements may marry any other eligible person regardless of gender. Each party to a marriage shall be designated “bride,” “groom,” or “spouse.”  Where necessary to implement the rights and responsibilities relating to the marital relationship or familial relationships, gender-specific terms shall be construed to be gender neutral for all purposes throughout the law, whether in the context of statute, administrative or court rule, policy, common law or any other source of civil law.”
